The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Muhammad Bello, has intervened in the dispute between Kakatar Construction Company and the Nigerian Army.
The Special Adviser (Media) to the Federal Capital Territory, Mohammed Sani, who stated this in an interview with one of our correspondents on Saturday in Abuja, said that the minister was looking into the issue of ownership of the premises sealed by the Army.
The firm is owned by Azibaola Robert, a cousin of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
It was gathered that the Federal Capital Development Authority would also investigate ownership of 400 plots in the Maitama Extension.
Soldiers had on Friday, last week, taken over the premises of the company located at the Maitama Extension District, Abuja. The company is near the Lungui Barracks of the Nigerian Army.
The Army, which is claiming ownership of the land, had told one of our correspondents that it would not allow anybody to take over its land.
The Special Assistant to the FCT minister said that Kakatar had written the minister to complain about the confiscation of its premises by the Army.
Sani disclosed that the minister was looking into the complaint to determine the original allottee of the land and take remedial action on the matter.
He noted that Kakatar was engaged by the FCT Administration to provide basic infrastructure at the new Maitama District, but added that he could not confirm if it was allocated the land in contention.
Attempts to get reactions of the Acting Director, Army Public Relations to the latest development on the issue did not succeed as he did not pick the calls to his mobile telephone. Also, Usman did not respond to a text message on the issue.
But the spokesman for the company, Mr. Austin Ekeinde, said in a statement, that the action of the Army was causing the firm huge losses.
